L’odore delle vecchie case, il profilo seghettato dell’araucaria, il tuono bianco che fa il mare sbattendo sulla roccia: Tropea è una continua emozione. Il mito ne attribuisce la fondazione a Ercole, di ritorno dalle famose colonne che segnavano i confini del mondo conosciuto.

Tropea era anche la seta delle filande sparse nei suoi casali e le coperte “Impennacchiate” dei telai casalinghi, oltre ai frutti dell’agricoltura come la celebre cipolla rossa, lo zibibbo e l’ulivella. Dal mare non arrivano più i preziosi coralli, ma è tutta la città, ora, a farsi diamante nel vento della sera.
