Una Panchina Arcobaleno per Tropea
Il 17 maggio, alle ore 18,30, in Piazza Cannone, verrà inaugurata la Panchina Arcobaleno su iniziativa delle Associazioni Libertas ed sos KORAI col patrocinio dell’Amministrazione Comunale guidata dal Sindaco Giovanni Macrì.
La data prescelta é quella della Giornata Internazionale contro l’omofobia, bifobia e transfobia, promossa nel 2004 dallo specifico Comitato Internazionale e riconosciuta dall’Unione Europea e dalle Nazioni Unite a 14 anni esatti dal 17 Maggio 1990, giorno in cui l’omosessualità viene rimossa dalla lista delle malattie mentali dell’Organizzazione Mondiale della Salute.
Le due Associazioni, con sede a Tropea, presiedute dallo storico Dario Godano e dalla psicologa Beatrice Lento, hanno raccolto subito il suggerimento della comunità tropeana LGBT perché in sintonia con i loro impegni di servizio: il contrasto alla subcultura maschilista, l’educazione ai valori della pace e della convivenza democratica, il valore universale della libertà e della cultura.
Il Comune, a sua volta, ha condiviso immediatamente la proposta ed ha accordato il suo patrocinio perché aderente ai principi guida del Progetto Tropea fondato sul valore della persona, sulla cittadinanza e sull’accoglienza.
All’evento parteciperanno anche l’Arcigay Calabria, LaboArt e l’Istituto di Istruzione Superiore, ovviamente nel rispetto delle norme sanitarie vigenti.
L’iniziativa vuole lasciare un messaggio variopinto di pace e fraternità sostenendo l’idea del rispetto delle differenze e delle molteplici energie integrative di una comunità. C’é chi ritiene che tale messaggio sia oggi superfluo perché i pregiudizi nei confronti dell’omosessualità sono superati, purtroppo non é ancora così se si pensa che rimangono troppe le persone che quotidianamente subiscono discriminazioni e violenze, che nel periodo del covid c’è stato un netto aumento negli abusi e che a scuola il 34% degli studenti pensa che l’omosessualità sia sbagliata, il 10% che sia una malattia e il 27% non gradisce un compagno di banco gay. L’impegno educativo rimane urgente e fondamentale anche per rimuovere atteggiamenti di pietismo, inopportuno e offensivo, che nascono dall’ignoranza e da pregiudizi.
La Panchina Arcobaleno vuole essere un appello a tutti perché ognuno riconosca nel contrasto ad ogni forma di discriminazione una battaglia di civiltà che vale la pena di combattere con decisione.

Kahlo:” Io ancora vedo orizzonti dove tu disegni confini”, la riflessione, che abbatte le barriere ed apre il cuore all’incontro e alla reciprocità, si sposa bene col tema della manifestazione e col luogo dell’evento: la bellissima terrazza sul Mediterraneo di Largo Cannone.
